Well, my client actually chose the colors. I just put them where I thought they looked best on the website :) I chose to keep the page pretty "neutral" so that it wouldn't be too distracting. I chose a green background because too much brown gets so boring! ;) Then for the logo I tied in the more "bright" colors my client wanted. That way they would still be a prominent feature without being so in-your-face.
1. How can you enhance the legibility of the content through your choice of colors/graphics?
Oh, well you can definitely add some nice contrast to a website by using colors correctly, like different colored links and headings to draw your eye to them. And graphics can be used to help viewers know what website they're on, like through a website logo.
2. Can color communicate information about the structure of your information?
Absolutely! Color can indicate a change in the topic of information (such as headings with colors different from the normal text, that signals a change in topic), or even tell you that a website is ridiculously unorganized (colors flying everywhere with no real meaning).
